Plans for public consultation

12th October 2017

Caring Together partners are developing plans for public consultation on proposals to transform adult mental health services in Eastern and Central Cheshire.

The aim of the redesign is to:

  • improve community services
  • strengthen crisis care
  • provide high-quality specialist hospital care for those who need it.

Pre-consultation workshops took place in Crewe and Macclesfield in September to give service users and carers on opportunity to say what’s working well, what needs to be improved, and whether they support the principles of the review.

The remodelling and engagement work is being carried out by Cheshire and Wirral Partnership (CWP) NHS Foundation Trust (the area’s main provider of mental health services) with NHS Eastern Cheshire CCG.

Insights from the listening events will be taken into account alongside clinical evidence and financial information in the development of options to be signed off by the consultation partners before consultation starts early next year.

The 12-week, formal consultation itself will consist of public meetings and an online survey, all of which will be widely publicised. No decisions will be made until after the consultation has ended.
